Welcome to the finest information source on the net about the civil war. This site you could say is a red neck site but do as you please. The website is all about the Confederacy at war, and how they survived that long being so weak. Enjoy!

The Confederacy's Supply Line was Georgia, one of the eleven states that seceded. General William Tecumseh Sherman was a general in the North. His target was this supply line. Though he would have to get through Confederate General Johnston whos armies covered Georgia. But in 1864 Sherman seized control of Atlanta and burned it. Then Sherman marched to Savannah, burned it, and marched until he reached the Atlantic ocean burning everything in his path. Later Sherman telegraphed Lincoln offering Georgia to him as a Christmas present

The Confederacy's Navy was very weak. They had few ships and lacked the resources to build new ones. So they up dated the ones they already had. They raised a sunken Union ship named The Merimmack and covered it with 50 inch metal plates. On March 8th it sank three ships near Hampton Roads, Virginia, and two others. On March 9th the Confederate Merimmack dueld with Union ship the Monitor. After four hours of battle neither ship was damaged. However it began a new age of warfare, the age of ironclad ships.
